Trauma in the Workplace: Grief Counseling
Trauma & Grief in the workplace can be precipitated by a number of tragedies, but death of an employee is the most common occurrence. Bereavement, mourning, and grief are common reactions. The process for how to support employees through grief is, unfortunately, one of the hardest and most delicate tasks.
HEALING FROM GRIEF & TRAUMA
When grief touches the workplace, productivity can suffer in multiple ways.
Teams working closely together are bound to be affected by a grieving colleague—especially if team members have experienced grief themselves.
One thing is certain: Untreated Grief & Trauma diminishes the quality of life for the trauma survivor and those closest to him or her, and it may lead to suicidal thoughts and actions.
Counseling can help employees handle emotions from problems or stressors, even if they aren't dramatically life-altering or traumatic.
